Patiala Excels in State-Level Junior Kho-Kho Championship Held at Rayat Bahra University, Hoshiarpur
Hoshiarpur/ Nov4/Daljeet Ajnoha— The State-Level Junior Kho-Kho Championship (Under-18 Boys and Girls), organized by the Kho-Kho Association of Hoshiarpur, concluded successfully at Rayat Bahra Professional University, showcasing remarkable sportsmanship and competitive spirit among young athletes from across Punjab.The event was inaugurated by Punjab Cabinet Minister for Local Government, Dr. Ravjot Singh, and Member of Parliament Dr. Raj Kumar Chabbewal, who hoisted the national flag to mark the opening. A total of 24 teams from various districts took part in the two-day event. Addressing the gathering, the dignitaries encouraged players to stay away from drugs, embrace teamwork, and pursue fitness through sports. They also noted that hosting the state-level Kho-Kho championship in Hoshiarpur after 35 years is a proud moment for the district.Championship ResultsIn the boys’ category, Patiala secured the championship title, followed by Jalandhar as runners-up. Hoshiarpur and Ludhiana shared the third position jointly. In the girls’ category, Patiala clinched gold, Muktsar won silver, while Hoshiarpur and Sangrur earned bronze medals.Promotion of “Beti Bachao-Beti Padhao”Under the guidance of Hoshiarpur Deputy Commissioner Mrs. Ashika Jain, the girls’ teams achieving the top four positions were recognized under the “Beti Bachao-Beti Padhao” initiative. They were presented with tracksuits as a symbol of encouragement and motivation.The Kho-Kho Association of Hoshiarpur also presented Rs. 2,500 each to the teams securing first and second positions, while the winning and runner-up boys’ teams received Rs. 2,100 each along with sports kits.Dignitaries and Closing CeremonyThe prize distribution ceremony was graced by notable guests including Mr. Tarun Chawla (Director, Finance and Administration), Mr. Pradeep Kumar Dadwal (Advisor, Vardhman Yarns & Threads Ltd.), Mr. Shailendra Thakur (Principal, Naru Nangal), and Mrs. Rashmi Sharma (Principal, Rayat Bahra International School).Kho-Kho Association Chairman Mr. Sarbjit Singh Dhami (Canada) extended his gratitude to all participants, guests, and organizing members, encouraging continued youth engagement in sports.Among those present were association officials Satnam Singh, Ajit Singh, Sandeep Kumar, Surjit Singh, Somesh Kumar, Satveer Singh, Prof. Paramjit Kaur, Jaswinder Singh, Anupam Thakur, Davinder Singh, Manoj Kumari (PRO), Rajneesh Dadwal, Harpreet Singh, and Sukhwinder Singh.
