Language Department Seeks Contributions for Giani Gurmukh Singh Musafir Special Issue

The Language Department has long been publishing folk literature through four magazines—Punjabi Duniya, Jan Sahitya, Parwaz-e-Adab, and Punjab Saurabh. Under the current leadership of Director Jaswant Singh Zafar, this work continues unabated.Dr. Jaswant Rai, Research Officer at the District Language Office in Hoshiarpur, elaborated that the department is now preparing a special issue of its magazine Jan Sahitya dedicated to Giani Gurmukh Singh Musafir. He appealed to writers and researchers in Hoshiarpur district to submit articles on Musafir's life, works—including poetry, stories, biographies—his role in Punjab politics, and his contributions to Punjab, Punjabi language, and Punjabi identity.Submissions must reach the District Language Office, Hoshiarpur, in both hard and soft copies by February 5, 2026. Each entry should include a self-certification affirming its originality and unpublished status, along with the writer's full address and phone number.Giani Gurmukh Singh Musafir served as Punjab's first Chief Minister. A prolific scholar, storyteller, essayist, biographer, poet, travel writer, and translator, he received the Sahitya Akademi Award. He devoted equal passion to literature and politics, and this special issue of Jan Sahitya honors his legacy.
