Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee member Pankaj Kirpal Advocate while addressing a large meeting of Congress workers said that the Congress party will not tolerate any proposal by the state government to merge Garhshankar with the newly proposed district of Shri Anandpur Sahib. He said that Garhshankar is an old historical sub-division, and no conspiracy to break it will be allowed to succeed. He said that the Congress party will come on the streets and struggle against the proposal of the merger of Garhshankar with Shri Anandpur Sahib. A large number of Panchs, Sarpanches, and Congress leaders attended the event.
