250 take part in ‘walkathon’ on World Heart Day

As many as 250 people including staff of mini secretariat, police personnel, doctors and para-medical staff of IVY Hospital, Hoshiarpur participated in a ‘walkathon’ here on Friday.
The walkathon, which was flagged-off by Rahul Chabba , ADC Hoshiarpur from DC Office, was organized by IVY Hospital, Hoshiarpur to mark World Heart Day. The walkathon culminated at Police Lines, Hoshiarpur.
Among others Dr Ravi Kumar senior cardiology consultant, Dr Gaurav Aggarwal cardiology consultant, Sukhwinder Singh facility head of IVY Hospital and Dr Sachin Sood head of medical operations also participated in the walkathon.
Meanwhile during the walkathon, the participants in line with this year's World Heart Day theme ‘Use heart, know heart’ raised awareness on the importance of a healthy lifestyle and diet for the good health of the heart . They were also carrying placards highlighting the importance of a healthy heart.
Speaking during the occasion, Rahul Chabba stressed upon the need of managing stress in our daily lifestyle.
He said,” We keep on working and taking stress while paying less attention to our diet and exercise. This puts a heavy burden on our heart which is small in size but has to take a heavy load of our faulty and sedentary lifestyles.”
He urged residents to take full care of their heart while paying attention to manage work and stress load and equally taking proper healthy diet and doing regular exercise.
Addressing participants Dr Ravi Kumar said, “Right from the day you are born, your heart starts working nonstop. What you eat, feel and do everything affects your heart. Understanding and implementing the importance of the right diet and exercise from childhood is very essential. Habits are not built in a day. They need to be inculcated right from the very beginning,”
