The government's yudh Nasian Virudh('War Against Drugs)' campaign is proving entirely successful in the area under Mahilpur Police Station in Hoshiarpur district. Under this drive, Mahilpur Police has registered nearly 30 cases under various sections over the past about two months. This information was shared by Mahilpur SHO Madan Singh during a special conversation with senior journalist Daljeet Ajnoha.He stated that, following directives from senior officials, around 25 youths from the area—who had fallen into drug addiction due to compulsion or bad company—were admitted to various de-addiction centers with the support of their families. These youths have now completely quit drugs, stand on their own feet, and have secured good employment. Seeing them work, those who once looked at them with disdain in streets, neighborhoods, or villages now praise them and also commend the government's and police's efforts.He further informed that action is being continuously taken in the area under the government's 'Parhar' campaign. Strict measures are also being enforced against other issues in the town, including traffic violations, illegal encroachments by shopkeepers in markets, and anti-social elements. Challans are being issued to vehicles parked improperly. Wrongdoers in the town have been warned. If anyone continues illegal activities despite police warnings, disregards orders from higher authorities, or defies them, strict legal action will be taken as per directives from senior officials.
