District Planning Committee Chairperson Karamjit Kaur said that the Punjab Government has collected a record ₹310 crore labor cess in the financial year 2024-25, the highest in the last four years. She said this historic achievement is the result of the visionary leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, transparent policies, and unwavering commitment towards the welfare of workers.

The Chairperson informed that in 2021-22, labor cess collection was ₹203.94 crore, in 2022-23 it was ₹208.92 crore, and in 2023-24 it stood at ₹180 crore. This year’s figure of ₹310 crore clearly proves that under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, the Punjab Government has taken concrete steps for the upliftment of the labor class and the protection of their rights.

She further said that labor cess is mainly collected from construction-related activities and projects in the state. The funds are utilized for workers’ safety, health, education, and welfare schemes. Under the guidance of the Chief Minister, the Punjab Government has implemented several schemes that are directly benefiting labor families.

Karamjit Kaur added that the aim of the Mann Government is not just to generate revenue but to improve the living standards of workers and their families. New initiatives are being undertaken for children’s education, health insurance, housing assistance, and social security. She expressed confidence that under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, Punjab will emerge as a role model for the country in the field of labor welfare in the coming years.
