Himanshu Jain, DC Ludhiana, Focuses on Development, Transparency & Public Welfare

Himanshu Jain, a 2017-batch Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer, has assumed charge as the Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Ludhiana. In an exclusive interaction with senior journalist Sanjiv Kumar, Jain shared insights into his administrative journey, challenges, and vision for Ludhiana’s development.
Reflecting on his career, Jain highlighted his experiences in various key roles, including DC Rupnagar, Additional Principal Secretary in the Chief Minister’s Office, Municipal Corporation Commissioner Hoshiarpur, ADC Jalandhar (Urban Development), SDM Kharar, and Assistant Commissioner Jalandhar (UT). Each of these roles, he noted, helped shape his approach to governance, emphasizing transparency, accountability, and public service delivery.
Jain expressed his firm commitment to making Ludhiana a drug-free district by working in close coordination with law enforcement and community stakeholders. Additionally, he underscored the need for strengthening healthcare infrastructure, ensuring better medical facilities for all citizens.
Understanding Ludhiana’s industrial importance, Jain announced the creation of a special cell for MSMEs and industries, aimed at providing fast-track approvals and efficient grievance redressal. He also emphasized the significance of clean and green initiatives, pledging efforts to improve the city's environmental sustainability.
Jain’s administration will focus on hassle-free access to public services, ensuring the effective implementation of government welfare schemes. He stressed the importance of public participation in governance and urged citizens to contribute actively to Ludhiana’s development.
Upon taking charge, Jain received a ceremonial guard of honor at the District Administration Complex. He concluded the interaction with Sanjiv Kumar by reaffirming his dedication to public welfare, industrial growth, and good governance, urging cooperation from all stakeholders to drive Ludhiana towards a brighter future.
