 Deputy Commissioner directed officials under District Mineral Foundation to ensure installation of Cameras in all exits of mining areas

Deputy Commissioner Sh. Navjot Pal Singh Randhawa, IAS monitored and reviewed the proceedings of District Mineral Foundation today. He took a review on the penalty taken vis-à-vis penalty imposed under NGT Rules. Executive Engineer, District Mining Department shared that the office has recovered Rs. 40 Lakh as per directions of NGT under section 74-75. Deputy Commissioner directed the District Mineral Foundation to ensure installations of Cameras in all the exit points of mining area in Nawanshahr and Balachaur sub-divisions. He shared that “while the district administration is keeping strict vigilance on illegal mining, it is important to capacitate our teams and officials through technology”. He also directed to use District Mineral Fund for giving search lights and other important equipments that officials required. Deputy Commissioner also directed forest department and executive engineer for communication to  Ministry of Forest, Government of India regarding the obstruction in the natural course of river Sutlej due to plantation by Forest Department that may lead to change in the course of the river. Deputy Commissioner reiterated his focus on long term mitigation efforts of curbing floods in the district.

SDM Nawanshahr Dr. Shivraj Singh Bal, SDM Balachaur Mr Bikram Singh, Executive Engineer Mining,  Executive Engineer Punjab Pollution and Control Board, Agricultural Officer Mr. Kamaldeep Singh Sangha, Wildlife Officer Nawanshahr, Forest Divisional Officer were present in this meeting.
