Deputy Commissioner Ashika Jain today addressed a meeting of officials from various departments at the Police Lines Ground to review preparations for the Republic Day function. She emphasised that the district-level event on January 26 must be conducted with full dignity, discipline, and an atmosphere of patriotism.The Deputy Commissioner stated that the programme will feature a parade, cultural events, tableaux, and tributes to freedom fighters and families of martyrs as major attractions. She directed all departments to work in close coordination to ensure no shortcomings.The meeting extensively discussed security arrangements, traffic management, parking, cleanliness, drinking water supply, electricity, and health services. The Deputy Commissioner instructed police and administrative officials to make foolproof security arrangements at the venue and keep all departments on high alert to handle any emergencies.Ashika Jain stressed that all rehearsals must be completed on time and necessary facilities provided to participants in the parade and cultural programmes. She added that Republic Day is a matter of pride for everyone, and organising it is not just the district administration's responsibility but also its honour.Directing all departmental heads to complete assigned tasks within the stipulated timeframe, she warned that no negligence would be tolerated at any level. The meeting was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner (Development) Nikas Kumar, Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Amarbir Kaur Bhullar, Municipal Commissioner Jyoti Bala Mattu, SDM Hoshiarpur Gursimranjit Kaur, SP Navneet Kaur, and other concerned officials.
