Kanwal Preet Barar (IAS), the election observer appointed by the Punjab State Election Commission for the District Council and Panchayat Committee elections, held a special meeting today at the District Administrative Complex, Hoshiarpur, with civil and police officials to review the election preparations.During the meeting, Deputy Commissioner-cum-District Election Officer Ashika Jain, SSP Sandeep Kumar Malik, and other officials were present. The election observer instructed all officials to ensure the entire election process is conducted transparently and impartially. He reviewed nomination procedures, implementation of the model code of conduct, and security arrangements.District Election Officer Ashika Jain stated that the district administration has made robust arrangements to conduct free and fair elections. She informed that 11 nomination centers have been established — 10 for the Panchayat Committees and one for the District Council. She assured the observer that the entire election process will be smoothly executed in accordance with the directives of the State Election Commission.Regarding security, SSP Sandeep Kumar Malik briefed the election observer on the comprehensive preparations made to ensure peaceful elections. He confirmed that all necessary measures have been put in place.Election Observer Kanwal Preet Barar emphasized that all returning officers must strictly follow the guidelines issued by the Punjab State Election Commission to successfully carry out the election process.It is noteworthy that polling will take place on Sunday, December 14, 2025, from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, using ballot papers. Vote counting will be conducted on Wednesday, December 17, 2025, at designated counting centers.Also present were Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Amarbir Kaur Bhullar, Assistant Commissioner Oyeshi Mandal, SP Navneet Kaur, DDPO Sandeep Singh, and other officials.
