****Healthcare and human service initiatives continue in Jalandhar’s rural communities

Continuing its tradition of community welfare, the management committee of Gurdwara Shaheed Baba Matti Sahib Ji, situated in the village of Daroli Kalan in Jalandhar district, organised a free medical camp alongside its monthly religious programme held on the occasion of Sangrand.

****Devotees Gather for Religious Ceremony*

As part of the monthly event, devotees from across India and abroad participated in the spiritual congregation. Following the fulfilment of their wishes, they initiated the sacred Akhand Path Sahib at the gurdwara. After the completion of the path and the traditional bhog ceremony, renowned kirtani jathas captivated the congregation with soulful Gurbani hymns.Humanitarian Service Alongside FaithIn keeping with the committee’s long-standing commitment to social welfare, the families who undertook the Akhand Path Sahib were honoured with siropaos (robes of honour) by the gurdwara management. Under the leadership of Jathedar Manohar Singh and with the support of NRI social worker Jatinder J. Minhas and others, a free general medical camp was organised for the local community.Specialist doctors examined patients suffering from various ailments and distributed free medicines to those in need.***Committee’s Ongoing Social Commitmen*Jathedar Manohar Singh stated that the gurdwara committee has consistently worked for the betterment of underprivileged and rural communities. Regular health camps are held to ensure villagers can access essential healthcare services close to home.He added that many rural residents faced difficulties in reaching hospitals, which led the committee to initiate an ambulance service. The facility is provided at a minimal charge to those in need.***Free Hearse Service for the Needy

*The committee also runs a completely free vehicle service for transporting deceased individuals to cremation grounds. According to Jathedar Singh, the initiative aims to uphold the spirit of human service and compassion that lies at the heart of Sikh philosophy.Promoting Sikh Identity Among YouthExpressing concern over the growing detachment of younger generations from Sikh values, Jathedar Manohar Singh said the committee actively works to reconnect youth with Sikh faith, teachings, and traditions. To achieve this, the gurdwara regularly conducts dastar (turban-tying) competitions and educational programmes on Sikh history and heritage.
