***Hoshiarpur/Daljeet Ajnoha/Oct 9 – The Punjab government has sanctioned ₹35.93 crore for the renovation and construction of roads in the Chabbewal Assembly constituency, according to Aam Aadmi Party MLA Dr. Ishank Kumar Chabbewal. Speaking about the initiative, he said that under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, the government aims to enhance rural and urban connectivity by upgrading key roads across the region.Dr. Kumar highlighted that earlier developmental efforts spearheaded by Hoshiarpur MP Dr. Raj Kumar Chabbewal had already led to the construction of several major roads in the district. The new projects, he stated, will further strengthen the road network in Chabbewal, ensuring smoother travel, time efficiency, and reduced vehicle maintenance costs for commuters.Providing details of state-level progress, the MLA said that during the fiscal year 2024–25, a total of 781 kilometers of roads were completed at an expenditure of ₹503.02 crore under Budget Head 5054 RB-10. For the 2025–26 fiscal year, the government has set aside ₹663 crore to construct 840 kilometers of roads, of which 342 kilometers have already been finished. Additionally, ₹190 crore has been earmarked for the construction of new roads and bridges across Punjab.Dr. Kumar explained that the road strengthening plan in Chabbewal follows a comprehensive approach. Authorities first identified roads that had not been repaired for years, after which new routes were planned based on community needs. Implementation of these projects, valued at ₹35.93 crore, is now underway.He further noted that the Chabbewal constituency, which borders Himachal Pradesh, serves as an important corridor linking Punjab and Himachal. The improved infrastructure will facilitate trade and travel between the two states, ultimately contributing to Punjab’s economic growth. Concluding his remarks, Dr. Ishank Kumar said that alongside road works, several other development projects in the constituency are also advancing at a rapid pace.
