District & Sessions Judge Chairs Review Meeting of District Legal Services Authority

District & Sessions Judge-cum-Chairman of the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Rajinder Aggarwal, held a meeting today with the members of the DLSA to review the ongoing initiatives and ensure the smooth implementation of NALSA-related schemes.During the meeting, Justice Aggarwal evaluated the free legal services being provided by the Authority and urged residents to make maximum use of these services. He directed the administration to raise awareness about the Compensation to Victims Scheme to ensure timely disbursal of the ₹2 lakh compensation to the dependents of those who lose their lives in road accidents.He also instructed NGOs associated with the DLSA to conduct awareness campaigns in educational institutions, emphasizing the prevention of drug abuse and educating youth about the importance of obtaining driving licenses.Highlighting the upcoming National Lok Adalat scheduled for December 13, the District & Sessions Judge stressed the need for wide publicity, encouraging the public to bring their pending cases for resolution. “The Lok Adalat mechanism saves both time and money, and its awards carry the status of a civil decree,” he remarked.On this occasion, Chief Judicial Magistrate-cum-DLSA Secretary Neeraj Goyal presented a progress report, noting that between July 1 and September 30, the Authority provided legal aid to 477 persons and legal advice to 225 others. During this period, 302 awareness seminars were organized, 61 cases were settled at the Mediation and Conciliation Centre, and 15 cases were decided on the spot through the Camp Court held in the Central Jail. Additionally, compensation totaling ₹12,75,000 was disbursed in eight victim compensation cases.Additional District & Sessions Judge Jaswinder Sheemar, Chief Judicial Magistrate Ajay Pal Singh, SDM Gursimranjeet Kaur, SP Navneet Kaur Gill, Deputy Attorney Pawandeep Singh, Agyapal Singh Sahni, Darshan Kaushal, and Lt. Gen. (Retd.) Jasbir Singh Dhillon were also present during the meeting.
