**Hoshiarpur/Oct 25/ Daljeet Ajnoha: Organizing voluntary blood donation camps to commemorate the anniversaries of departed loved ones is a commendable and humanitarian gesture that beautifully honors their memory, remarked Dr. Ajay Bagga, Patron of the Indian Society of Blood Transfusion and Immunohematology (ISBTI), Punjab Chapter.Dr. Bagga observed that across Punjab, this noble tradition is gaining remarkable momentum as families increasingly choose to celebrate the lives and memories of their deceased relatives through acts of service and community welfare. He noted that on October 24, a blood donation camp was organized in memory of Chaudhary Ram Nath Ji by his son, Tarlokhan Chechi, at village Dangori Beat. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from 55 donors, including Tarlokhan Chechi, his granddaughter Rohani Chaudhary, and grandson Pushp Chechi.Last month, Communist leader Darshan Singh Mattu held a similar camp in Garhshankar to honor the memory of his late son, Kaka Amandeep Singh Mattu, and unidentified deceased persons. This initiative attracted 73 blood donors. On October 16, in Mehal Gehlan, a camp was organized at Dera Baba Mangal Das Ji to mark the first death anniversary of Dara Sound’s late Balwinder Pal. The event was inaugurated by his widow and saw the participation of 51 donors. Likewise, in memory of Kaka Chirag Soni, his brother Chahat Soni and the Soni family organized another camp, where over 35 individuals contributed blood.Veteran blood donation activists Gurinder Singh Toor and Prof. J.S. Gidda, who have spearheaded the blood donation movement in the Doaba region for over four decades, lauded the growing practice and urged citizens to extend such initiatives to occasions like birthdays and wedding anniversaries.Dr. Bagga, himself a veteran blood donor with 103 donations to his credit, announced that families who organize such camps on commemorative occasions will be honored in Hoshiarpur during the upcoming New Year celebrations. He emphasized that recognizing these families aims to promote awareness about the significance of blood donation and inspire more people to participate in this life-saving cause. He concluded by stating that blood donors not only help save lives by addressing shortages in hospitals but also foster a spirit of brotherhood and strengthen national unity.
