Lok Sabha MP Dr. Raj Kumar Chabbewal met Union Road Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari and submitted a memorandum requesting early commencement of the Hoshiarpur-Tanda road construction project. The Union Minister assured that the work will begin soon.
During the meeting, which also included Sri Anandpur Sahib MP Malvinder Singh Kang, Dr. Chabbewal informed that the 27.9 km long road from Hoshiarpur to Tanda will be constructed at an estimated cost of ₹28.86 crores.
He also raised the issue of the incomplete Hoshiarpur-Jalandhar road, requesting immediate resumption of the halted work. Minister Gadkari assured that the pending work on this road will also begin shortly.
Dr. Chabbewal stated that the delay in the Hoshiarpur-Jalandhar road construction was due to issues related to land acquisition, particularly in areas where the road has not yet been built. However, Deputy Commissioner Aashika Jain has now assured that the land acquisition process will be expedited, paving the way for construction to resume.
He further added that the halted construction of the Adampur flyover is also being taken up and will resume soon.
It is worth noting that the Hoshiarpur-Jalandhar road spans approximately 38 km, and the incomplete stretches have been causing significant inconvenience to commuters.
Dr. Raj Kumar Chabbewal and Malvinder Singh Kang reiterated that the AAP government in Punjab is fully committed to addressing state-related issues, and strong efforts are being made to resolve them during the ongoing session of the Lok Sabha.
