 Tragic Road Accident on Dasuya-Hajipur Road: 9 Dead Including Child, 33 Injured

A horrific road accident occurred on Monday morning near village Sagra on the Dasuya-Hajipur Road, involving a private company bus and a car. The collision claimed the lives of nine people, including a 5-year-old girl, while 33 others sustained injuries. Seven people died on the spot, and two more succumbed to their injuries in the hospital. The injured are being treated at Civil Hospital Dasuya, while critically injured patients have been referred to Government Medical College Amritsar and a private hospital in Hoshiarpur.


Following the accident, the district administration, road safety force, health department, and police teams swiftly reached the site. Dasuya MLA Karambeer Singh Ghuman, Deputy Commissioner Aashika Jain, and SSP Sandeep Kumar Malik visited the injured at Civil Hospital Dasuya to assess the situation and offer condolences to the affected families. They expressed deep sorrow over the incident and directed the doctors to ensure no compromise in the treatment of the injured.


MLA Ghuman and DC Aashika Jain announced that the Punjab Government would provide financial assistance of ₹2 lakh each to the families of the deceased from the Chief Minister's Relief Fund. The injured will also receive compensation as per government norms, and their treatment is being provided entirely free of cost. CM Bhagwant Mann has also expressed grief over the incident and assured full support to the affected families.


DC Jain informed that under the Punjab Government's Farishtey Scheme, treatment is also being provided free of cost in private hospitals. Civil Surgeon Dr. Pawan Kumar and SMO Dasuya Dr. Manmohan Singh are supervising the medical care of all injured patients. The Red Cross Society is also actively supporting the administration in providing relief and assistance.


According to SMO Dr. Manmohan Singh, the deceased include 5-year-old Raju Bala (Budhabarh), Love Kumar (50) of Kangra, Gurmeet Ram (65) of Haler, Satvinder Kaur (55) of Jalal Chak, Balbir Kaur (60) of Dasmesh Nagar Dasuya, Sanjeev Kumar (30) of Naviyan Bagdian, Meena (30) of Budhabarh, Subhag Rani (55) of Sahoda, and one unidentified woman around 50 years of age.


Among the 33 injured are Mahinder Singh, Sahil Minhas, Sheetal, Ritika Thakur, Ritish, Namrata Bhatia, Gurdeep Singh, Tilak Raj, Tanvi, Neelam Kumar, Sukhwinder, Neeraj Chaudhary, Neelam, Prince, Surinder Singh, Mamta, Kavish, Preeti, Reena Devi, Manish, Preeti Rani, Vikram Singh, Mohammad Deen, Arvind Kumar, Shafi, Ashish Kumar, Tripta Devi, Neetu Bala, Pooja, Neelam, Raj Rani, Sanjeev Singh, and Khushi Mehta.


Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has expressed condolences and assured that every possible help will be extended to the families affected by this heartbreaking tragedy. The district administration has launched an investigation into the accident, and stricter traffic law enforcement is expected moving forward to prevent such incidents.
