 "Green Pledges, Young Voices, and United Communities – A Powerful World Environment Day at Baba Ghara Das Ji’s Site"

On the occasion of World Environment Day, observed globally on June 5, the environmental organization Shave Shivalik Save Mother Earth organized a deeply impactful and widely attended event at the sacred site of Brahmgyani Sant Baba Shri Ghara Das Ji in Village Bercha. The celebration focused on raising awareness about environmental conservation and encouraging community-led action, particularly among the younger generation.

The event was honored by the presence of Sardar Jagmohan Singh Babbu Ghumman as Chief Guest, and Sardar Anjan Singh, Divisional Forest Officer, Dasuya, as Guest of Honour. Their presence added gravitas to the occasion and underscored the importance of collective environmental responsibility.

As part of the pre-celebration activities, a Chart-Making Competition was held on June 4, drawing participation from schoolchildren and youth of nearby villages. The competition not only highlighted environmental creativity but also emphasized the growing environmental awareness among the younger population.

In the main program, keynote addresses were delivered by respected figures. Professor Sanjeev Kumar, President of NGO A4C Dasuya, emphasized the immediate impact of climate change and global warming, stating that the Earth is already experiencing environmental instability due to human overexploitation. He warned that if corrective steps are not taken, future generations will suffer the consequences.

Lecturer Kulwinder Singh, President of the SC-BC Federation Punjab, urged people to adopt eco-conscious lifestyles and actively contribute to sustainability. Gurkirpal Bodal, President of the host organization, highlighted that the environment is a moral inheritance for our future generations. He encouraged community-driven tree plantation campaigns and the protection of drinking water sources.

To symbolize commitment toward environmental protection, a Moringa (Suhanjana) sapling was planted during the event. Winners of the chart-making competition were awarded and felicitated for their contributions. Distinguished guests were also honored in recognition of their efforts and support for the cause.

Among the many notable attendees were Range Officers Reet Mahinder Singh and Diljit Kumar (Block Officer, Kapal), Dr. Hardeep Singh (Deep Hospital), Pawan Kumar Jassal (Architect, Dasuya), renowned wrestler Sandeep Duggal, Master Gurjeet Duggal, members of Gram Panchayats of Bercha and Bodal Chhauni, Mandeep Dhindsa (President, Meeri Peeri Sewa Society, Sri Garna Sahib), Paramjit Ghumman (President, Yuvak Subhawan Club, Usmaan Shaheed), and Advocate Ramandeep Singh (Bercha).

The event’s success was made possible by the dedicated team including Prof. Jasvir Bodal (Vice President), Gurinder Safri (Secretary), Praveen Magat (Media In-Charge), Balwinder Kaur Lagana (Women’s Wing In-Charge), Advocate Navdeep Kaur, Jasvir Singh (Event Organizer & Librarian), Kamaljeet Kamal (Car AC Expert), and Yograaj Bercha.

The celebration concluded with a collective pledge to protect nature, conserve resources, and continue environmental advocacy beyond the day, making sustainable living a shared community mission.
