 Food Commission member inspects ration depots

To ensure compliance with the provisions of the National Food Security Act (NFSA), the Punjab State Food Commission will continue to conduct regular surprise inspections at government ration depots to maintain transparency in the quality and quantity of wheat being distributed. Strict action will be taken against anyone found negligent in the implementation of this scheme. This was stated by Mr. Vijay Dutt, Member of the Punjab State Food Commission, during a surprise inspection of several government ration depots in Hoshiarpur district today.

Mr. Vijay Dutt inspected ration depots located in the villages of Chak Guru, Rurki Khas, Alipur, and Baranpur in the Garhshankar area. He checked the moisture level of the wheat using a digital moisture meter, which was found to be within the prescribed standards. Officials from the Food Supply Department were also present during the inspection.

Mr. Dutt informed that the government is running a wheat distribution scheme for a period of three months—from April to June. With the use of biometric machines and electronic weighing scales provided by the government, the distribution process at each depot has become more transparent and efficient.

He emphasized that such surprise visits will continue in the future and that any kind of negligence will not be tolerated. He urged all eligible beneficiaries who have not yet collected their three-month wheat quota to do so from their nearest ration depot.

Additionally, he directed that the Punjab State Food Commission's helpline number 9876764545 must be clearly displayed at all ration depots. Any beneficiary can register complaints related to the scheme through this helpline.--
