 Wanted Criminal Injured in Police Encounter Near Ajnoha Village/SSP Malik

Near the bridge of village Ajnoha along the banks of the Bist Doaab Canal, a wanted accused involved in multiple cases was injured during an encounter with the police in a maize field. As soon as news of the incident broke, SSP Sandeep Kumar Malik, SP (D) Dr. Mukesh Kumar, DSP Chabbewal Parminder Singh, SHO Inspector Baljit Singh Hundal, SHO Mahilpur Palvinderpaljeet Singh, Police Post In-charge Dilbagh Singh, and other police personnel reached the spot.

SSP Hoshiarpur Sandeep Kumar Malik, speaking from the scene, stated that the injured accused, Sarabjit alias Pawa, a resident of Ajnoha, already had several cases registered against him. Today, the police had formed multiple teams to search for him. They received information that Sarabjit alias Pawa was present in the area. Upon confirmation, the police set up checkpoints. When he arrived and the police tried to stop him, he opened fire on the police party. In response, the police fired warning shots, but he fired again. The police then retaliated, and a bullet hit him in the leg.

He was immediately taken to the Civil Hospital in Hoshiarpur for treatment. Once he recovers, he will be questioned. The SSP also reported that two shells and a country-made pistol were recovered from the scene. Further investigation by the police is underway.
