Drug relief journey will start from 16th May to raise awareness to defense committees in villages/wards: Deputy Commissioner
MLA and Chairman will lead drug free trips
Deputy Commissioner appeals to the residents of the district to participate on a large scale in the drug free journey
Gurdaspur, 14 May ( ) - Chief Minister Punjab Sardar Bhagwant Singh Mann, in the next phase of the decisive fight against drugs that started from February 24, now the government has organized committees and awareness meetings with common people from May 16 at village and ward level. The series is about to begin. The purpose of these meetings will be to educate the members of Village Defense Committees and Ward Defense Committees and the general public to convey the activities of drug traffickers to the district administration, motivating them to drug relief centers for the treatment of drug victims.
Deputy Commissioner Mr. Dalwinderjit Singh held a meeting with the officials at the District Administrative Complex regarding the preparations for the Drug Relief Travel. While giving information about drug free travel, Deputy Commissioner Shri Dalwinderjit Singh said that this journey will start from 16th May in 7 assembly constituencies of district Gurdaspur. In this regard, special meetings will be held daily from 4 pm to 7 pm in three villages of each assembly constituency.
The Deputy Commissioner said that on May 16, there will be a drug free journey in villages Lakhora of Batala at 4 pm, Dewaniwal Kalan at 5 pm and Dewaniwal Khurd at 6 pm, the Deputy Commissioner of Batala will be led by Shri Aman Sher Singh Sherry Kalsi, MLA of Batala.
He said that on 16th May in the village Vada Rangar Nangal of Vidhan Sabha constituency Sri Hargobindpur Sahib at 4 pm, 5 pm at Jaitosarja and 6 pm at village Jahadpur. The journey will be under the leadership of Amarpal Singh.
The Deputy Commissioner said that on May 16, MLA Gurdeep Singh Randhawa will lead the drug free journey at 4 pm, 5 pm at Hardowal Khurd in village Hardowal in Dera Baba Nanak constituency and 6 pm at Samrai.
He said that the drug free travel in Vidhan Sabha constituency Gurdaspur will also start from May 16 and the Chairman of Punjab Health Systems Corporation Shri Raman Bahil will be held at 4 pm in ward number 4 of Gurdaspur city, 5 pm in ward number 6 and evening in ward number 3 4pm will be leading this journey.
Deputy Commissioner Mr. Dalwinderjit Singh further stated that on 16th May, in Vidhan Sabha constituency Fatehgarh Churian, under the leadership of PUNSP Chairman Mr. Balbir Singh Pannu, Deputy Commissioner Teja at 4 pm, 5 pm at Dogar and 6 pm at Baddowal Kalan in the assembly constituency. The journey will take place.
They said that on May 16, there will be a drug-free journey at 4 pm in village Allar Pindi of Dinanagar constituency, 5 pm in Baupur Afghans and 6 pm in village Adhi. Prominent public leader Shamsher Singh will participate in these journeys.
On May 16, there will be a drug free journey at 4 pm in village Kot Santokh Rai of Vidhan Sabha constituency Kadian, 5 pm in village Theh Tikha and 6 pm in village Chotepur, which will be led by Shri Jagroop Singh Sekhwan, Chairman of District Planning Committee Gurdaspur.
The Deputy Commissioner said that there will be public gatherings daily in the evening in the wards of villages and cities of the district under the Addiction Mukti Yatra, the schedule of which has been prepared by the district administration. People of group villages and wards of those districts are requested to participate in large scale in the journey to be held on their village scheduled date that if we do not unite against drugs at the ground level then it will harm our young generation Will have to endure. They said that it becomes our duty that we also support this campaign started by the government and the administration.
