Under the Punjab government's 'Yudh Nashia Virudh' campaign to eradicate drugs from the roots, Hoshiarpur police demolished an unofficial structure near Ghanta Ghar in Mohalla Valmiki to eliminate drug menace and remove illegal encroachments by peddlers.SP (PBI) Major Singh provided detailed information, stating that the action was initiated in the presence of civil administration on the directions of SSP Sandeep Kumar Malik. He revealed that Keshav Gandhi alias Krishna, Ashish farwaha alias Lundi, and Rubal face a total of nine cases under the NDPS Act in the area.Major Singh affirmed that Hoshiarpur police will continue their drive against drug trafficking and illegal occupations as per Punjab government directives. He appealed to the public to report such illegal activities to the police and assured swift and strict action against the guilty.Warning drug peddlers, he said they should either quit smuggling narcotics or prepare for the harshest consequences. He added that locals were fed up with these traffickers and have welcomed the government's crackdown. "We applaud the Punjab government's efforts to wipe out drugs from the state," he quoted residents as saying.
