A district-level meeting was held today in the conference hall at the Police Lines, under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner Ashika Jain, to review preparations for the Republic Day celebrations on January 26. SSP Sandip Kumar Malik was also present on the occasion.Addressing the gathering, the Deputy Commissioner issued clear instructions to all officials to discharge their duties with utmost seriousness, coordination, and accountability, ensuring the national festival is celebrated with devotion and enthusiasm in a dignified manner. DC Ashika Jain informed that, as in previous years, the district-level Republic Day function this year too will be organised at the Police Lines Ground, Hoshiarpur, on January 26. She added that families of freedom fighters, brave women, and distinguished personalities who have rendered exemplary service in various fields will be honoured on the occasion.The Deputy Commissioner directed the district police to make foolproof security arrangements along with proper parking facilities. She also emphasised ensuring cleanliness at the venue, availability of drinking water, temporary toilets, and deployment of a medical team by the health department. Instructions were also given to conduct regular rehearsals for the police contingents for the march past.The DC instructed the District Education Officer to select schools well in advance for the cultural programmes to be presented by schoolchildren during the Republic Day event, to maintain quality and timeliness. She stressed that all arrangements—including bands, tableaux by departments, barricading, pandal decoration, rehearsals, distribution of awards and commendation certificates—must be completed on time to make the event memorable.On the occasion, SSP Sandip Kumar Malik stated that security would be the top priority during the Republic Day celebrations. Adequate police deployment, smooth traffic management, diversion plans, and special arrangements keeping public convenience in mind will be made to avoid any inconvenience.The meeting was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner (Development) Nikas Kumar, Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Amarbir Kaur Bhullar, Assistant Commissioner Oishee Mandal, SDM Hoshiarpur Gursimranjit Kaur, Assistant Commissioner (General) Parmpreet Singh, SP Major Singh, SP Navneet Kaur, SP Manpreet Shimar, RTO Amandeep Kaur, and officers from various departments.
