The Hoshiarpur district administration has kicked off preparations for the five-day ‘Nature Fest’ to be held at the local Lajwanti Sports Stadium from February 10 to 14. In this regard, Deputy Commissioner Ashika Jain chaired a meeting with officials from various departments at the district administrative complex, reviewing essential arrangements and directing them to complete all setups on time.During the meeting, DC Ashika Jain stated that the ‘Nature Fest’ will provide a strong platform to highlight Hoshiarpur district’s rich natural heritage, tourist spots, and environmental resources. She emphasized that the event will not only boost tourism but also serve as a vital initiative to connect the general public, youth, and students with nature.She informed that the festival will feature exhibitions of the district’s natural assets alongside handicrafts, products made by self-help groups, environment conservation activities, and items created by prominent local figures. This will encourage local artisans, self-help groups, and entrepreneurs.The Deputy Commissioner added that the ‘Nature Fest’ will also showcase Punjab’s heritage and culture through vibrant performances, including folk dances, traditional presentations, and cultural programmes by students, which will be major attractions. Additionally, the Lajwanti Stadium will host a food market, farmers’ market, self-help group stalls, musical evenings, kite-flying, and a cafe zone to draw crowds.Adventure enthusiasts can look forward to activities like camping, trekking, night live bands, off-roading from Kukanet to Dehrian, eco huts at Thana Dam, high-speed boating, jungle safaris, safaris at Chauhal Dam, speed boating, and nature walks.Ashika Jain said registrations will begin soon after completing necessary formalities, with final touches to all activities in the coming days. The meeting was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner (Rural Development) Nikas Kumar, Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Amarbir Kaur Bhullar, SDM Hoshiarpur Gursimranjit Kaur, and officials from various departments.
