 — During the ongoing Winter Session of the Lok Sabha, Dr. Raj Kumar Chabbewal, Aam Aadmi Party MP from Hoshiarpur, raised the demand to rename the inter-state Adampur Airport in honor of Shri Guru Ravidas Maharaj Ji. He informed that the AAP government in Punjab has already passed a resolution in the Punjab Assembly and sent it to the central government, urging it to take necessary action.Dr. Chabbewal highlighted that the entire year from 2026 to 2027 will be celebrated as the Prakashotsav (birth anniversary) of Shri Guru Ravidas Maharaj Ji. He appealed to the central government to join in these festivities by honoring the Guru’s legacy. He added that once the central government takes a decision, they will officially inscribe Shri Guru Ravidas Maharaj Ji’s name in golden letters at the airport as a mark of respect.In addition, Dr. Chabbewal requested the central government to upgrade Adampur Airport to an international airport. He argued that since a large number of people from the Doaba region live overseas, international airport status would greatly benefit overseas Indians. Furthermore, this upgrade would support the local industry, both small and large, by providing improved connectivity. Establishing an international airport would not only offer convenience to people but also accelerate the development of the entire region.Speaking to journalists, Dr. Raj emphasized that for centuries, the teachings of Guru Sahib Ji—based on love, equality, compassion, and humanity—have enlightened millions. He firmly believes linking this important location to the Guru Sahib Ji’s name will serve as an inspiration for future generations. He concluded by stating this demand is not just raised in Parliament but represents the voice and sentiment of the people, as a humble tribute to their revered Guru Sahib.
