 Red Cross Society Marks Diwali with Festive Spirit at Old Age Home and Observation Home

In a heartwarming initiative, the District Red Cross Society, Hoshiarpur, celebrated Diwali with great enthusiasm at the Old Age Home and the Observation Home located in Ram Colony Camp. The event was graced by Deputy Commissioner-cum-Chairperson of the Red Cross Society, Ms. Ashika Jain, who joined the elderly residents and children in the festive celebrations.On this occasion, Ms. Jain interacted with the inmates of both institutions and distributed sweets, gifts, and essential items among them. She remarked that the true spirit of Diwali lies not merely in lighting up homes but in bringing light and happiness to the lives of the underprivileged. She encouraged people from all walks of life to participate in such social initiatives to promote compassion and harmony in the community.Under the Red Cross initiative, 20 residents of the Old Age Home were presented with quilt covers, woollen bed sheets, sweets, and dry fruits. The residents expressed their gratitude through soulful Diwali songs and bhajans, making the atmosphere joyous and emotional.The children of the Observation Home received a water purifier (RO system), two 55-inch Smart LED televisions, 20 sleeping mattresses, 80 plates, 100 spoons, and 10 woollen blankets as Diwali gifts. The children also gave vibrant cultural and dance performances, adding colour and energy to the event.In her address, the Deputy Commissioner assured that the Red Cross Society, Hoshiarpur, will continue to provide every possible assistance to both institutions in the future. She emphasized that such efforts reinforce values of humanity, empathy, and collective responsibility within society.Extending warm Diwali greetings to the residents of Hoshiarpur district, Ms. Jain wished for happiness, peace, prosperity, and mutual brotherhood for all. She urged citizens to celebrate Diwali safely, cleanly, and in an eco-friendly manner, making it a festival that spreads positivity and love.The celebration was attended by Mr. Mangesh Sood, Secretary of the Red Cross Society; Mr. Aditya Rana, Joint Secretary; Mr. Rajiv Bajaj; Mr. Puneet Kumar, Superintendent; Ms. Harpreet Kaur, DCPO; Ms. Daya Rani, CDPO; along with Baljinder Singh, Sanjeevan Singh, Pawan Kumar, Harpreet Kaur, and other dignitaries.
