BJP State Vice President Rajesh Bagha has cornered the Aam Aadmi Party government in Punjab on the debt issue, demanding the release of a white paper. Sharing crucial information, Rajesh Bagha alleged that the Punjab government is secretly planning to borrow ₹5,093 crore within the next three months. Preparations for this have already been made. He stated that Punjab's financial situation has deteriorated to such an extent that the government is taking new loans to repay old debts. Plans are being made to auction government assets. He alleged that the ₹5,093 crore will be raised from the open market through the sale of state securities. According to the state government's borrowing calendar, borrowings will be made in two installments: ₹1,500 crore in October, ₹1,500 crore in November, and ₹2,093 crore in December.  With these new loans, the state government's borrowing is estimated to reach ₹23,000 crore between April and December. The state government raised ₹13,326 crore between April and August, and an additional ₹4,000 crore was borrowed last month. He said that if the current situation continues, the debt will reach ₹4.17 lakh crore by March 2026. Bagha said that the situation in Punjab is such that employees are not getting their salaries on time. He said that like the previous Congress government in Punjab, the Aam Aadmi Party government is also running the government on the basis of debt. Rajesh Bagha demanded that the Finance Minister release a white paper to the public on the debt incurred during the last three years.
