Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) Punjab President and former Rajya Sabha MP Dr. Avtar Singh Karimpuri has strongly criticized the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government, stating that within just three years, it has burdened Punjab with a loan of ₹1 lakh crore, leading the state towards economic disaster.

Dr. Karimpuri said that the AAP government's approach is no different from that of previous regimes – whether Congress or Akali-BJP – which also made lofty promises but failed to deliver. “They mislead people with big claims, give nothing, and continue to exploit the public,” he said.

He further slammed the government’s celebration of a new ₹8,500 crore loan approval, calling it a “tragedy for Punjab.” “The same AAP leaders who, before the 2022 elections, promised to eliminate Punjab’s debt are now celebrating a ₹1 lakh crore loan in just three years,” he pointed out.

He noted that the earlier governments had already put Punjab under a debt of ₹2.74 lakh crore, and now the AAP government has added another ₹1 lakh crore to this within a short period, pushing the state further into financial crisis.

Dr. Karimpuri also alleged that the AAP government has completely failed in its promise to curb drug abuse. “By opening liquor shops and branches in every village, this government has made intoxicants easily available in every household,” he said.

He condemned the opening of liquor shops and branches near the holy site of Shri Khuralgarh Sahib — the revered land of Guru Ravidass Ji — calling it shameful and deeply disrespectful.

Highlighting the poor state of education, Karimpuri said that thousands of teaching and headmaster posts are vacant in schools, and contractual teachers are still struggling for regularization. “Without sufficient and permanent teachers, no education revolution can take place,” he stressed. Meanwhile, the government continues to circulate misleading advertisements about an "education revolution."

Dr. Karimpuri urged the people of Punjab to recognize those responsible for the state's economic and social decline and reject them politically. He appealed to the masses to join BSP’s “Punjab Sambhalo” (Save Punjab) campaign to help rescue the state from this ongoing crisis.
