Former Punjab Cabinet Minister and senior Shiromani Akali Dal (Badal) leader, Sardar Sohan Singh Thandal, has expressed his views on the upcoming Ludhiana West by-election, stating that while the result can go either way, the love and support of the people for the Shiromani Akali Dal (Badal) remains unwavering.
Thandal emphasized that the people of Ludhiana, especially in the West constituency, are now more politically aware than ever. “They clearly see how leadership from outside Punjab, particularly from Delhi, is occupying top positions that should belong to Punjabis. The people will no longer tolerate such interference,” he said.
He also took a strong stand on the issue of drug abuse in the state. “The Punjab government may make tall claims about curbing drugs, but the ground reality tells a different story. Drugs are still widespread in our villages, and our youth are dying due to overdoses. Nothing substantial has been done,” Thandal remarked.
Appealing to Punjabis across the state, he urged unity in strengthening Punjab and rallying behind the Shiromani Akali Dal (Badal). He praised the efforts of party president Sardar Sukhbir Singh Badal, stating, “Sukhbir Singh Badal is working tirelessly, day and night, to revive and reinforce the party for the betterment of Punjab.”
The by-election in Ludhiana West is being seen as a crucial indicator of the current political mood in Punjab, and leaders from all parties are actively campaigning to secure voter support.
