Government schemes should reach people at the grassroots level: MP Dr. Raj Kumar Chabbewal

Member of Parliament Dr. Raj Kumar Chabbewal emphasized that the development projects initiated by the government must be completed within the stipulated time so that people can benefit from them in a timely manner. He was reviewing the central government schemes being implemented in the district during a meeting held under the District Development Coordination and Monitoring Committee (DISHA) at the District Administrative Complex.
Present on the occasion were Deputy Speaker of the Punjab Vidhan Sabha Jai Krishan Singh Rouri, Hoshiarpur MLA Brahm Shankar Jimpa, Urmur Tanda MLA Jasvir Singh Raja Gill, Dasuya MLA Karamvir Singh Ghumaan, Deputy Commissioner Aashika Jain, Additional Deputy Commissioner (Rural Development) Nikas Kumar, and other officials.
The MP said that all government schemes should be implemented effectively so that the intended beneficiaries can receive their due advantages.
He shared that under the Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan, a total grant of ₹25 crore 32 lakh 77 thousand 846 was allocated to Hoshiarpur for the financial year 2024-25, and the entire amount has been utilized.
While reviewing the health department schemes, he informed that ₹6.84 crore has been spent under Janani Suraksha Yojana, Janani Shishu Suraksha Yojana, Family Planning Compensation, and Rogi Kalyan Samiti till March 31, 2025.
Under the Pradhan Mantri National Dialysis Program, 1371 dialysis sessions were conducted free of cost for 279 patients during the financial year 2024-25. He also informed that treatment for dengue and malaria is provided free of cost in government hospitals.
The MP emphasized that it is the responsibility of all department heads to ensure that dengue larvae do not breed in their office premises. He also stressed the need to implement the Plastic Waste Management Program in an effective manner.
He reviewed several other schemes including the Pradhan Mantri SVANidhi Scheme, Sansad Adarsh Gram Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Rural & Urban), Jal Jeevan Mission, PM Gram Sadak Yojana, PM Agriculture Irrigation Scheme, construction of a medical college, Swachh Bharat Mission, Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojana, social security schemes, MGNREGA, PMKVY, BSNL and projects undertaken by the National Highways Authority.
He directed that the ongoing projects should be completed promptly and their utilization certificates be submitted.
Deputy Commissioner Aashika Jain assured the MP and all committee members that development works under the MPLAD fund and other schemes will be completed at the earliest.
She stated that every scheme is being implemented in the district with utmost seriousness and regular reviews are being conducted with the concerned departments.
She instructed department heads to ensure that the issues discussed in the meeting by the MP, Deputy Speaker, and MLAs are resolved within the given timeframe.
Officials from various departments were also present on the occasion.
