Punjab's Minister for School Education, Higher Education, and Public Relations, Harjot Singh Bains, stated that every Punjabi must become a warrior in the fight against drugs to realize the dream of a vibrant and progressive Punjab. He was addressing the district-level event of the ‘Pindaan De Pahiredaar’ committees formed under the state's “War Against Drugs” campaign in Hoshiarpur as the chief guest.

He was joined by Cabinet Minister Dr. Rajwajot Singh, Deputy Speaker Jai Krishan Singh Rouri, MP Dr. Raj Kumar Chabbewal, MLAs Bram Shanker Jimpa, Jasvir Singh Raja Gill, Karmveer Singh Ghuman, Dr. Ishank Kumar, and Prof. G.S. Multani.

Bains emphasized that the fight against drug dealers requires the active involvement of the people, and described the ‘Pindaan De Pahiredaar’ volunteers as the government’s first line of defense. He stated that the aim is to extend this anti-drug campaign to every household. Criticizing previous governments for pushing the youth of Punjab towards drug abuse, he asserted that under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, the government is fully committed to eradicating this social evil. He further added that Punjab Police has been given full authority to take strict action against drug traffickers without any leniency.

On the issue of water, Bains strongly criticized the central government’s policies, claiming they point to a conspiracy to deprive Punjab of its rightful share of water. He noted that Punjab's prosperity is rooted in agriculture, which depends on water, and that the current policies are worsening the plight of farmers. He affirmed the government's resolve to ensure drinking and irrigation water for every village and protect the state’s water resources at all costs. Highlighting the education sector, he mentioned that previous governments had neglected basic infrastructure in schools, which is now being rectified through modernization and comprehensive reforms.

Cabinet Minister Dr. Rajwajot Singh described the anti-drug campaign as a decisive battle and affirmed that no drug peddlers would be spared. He praised Minister Bains for his remarkable work in the education sector.

Deputy Speaker Jai Krishan Singh Rouri said that the government is leaving no stone unturned for public welfare and stressed that spreading the message against drugs to every village is a moral responsibility.

MP Dr. Raj Kumar Chabbewal emphasized the importance of public participation in this fight, citing Hoshiarpur’s de-addiction and rehabilitation center as a leading institution in the state. He accused the central government of acting against Punjab's interests by challenging its water rights and assured that the Bhagwant Mann-led state government would not bow to any such pressures.

Earlier, Deputy Commissioner Aashika Jain gave a detailed account of the district administration’s initiatives under the anti-drug campaign, including the roles of Village Defense Committees and rehabilitation efforts. SSP Sandeep Kumar Malik spoke about police actions against drug traffickers and ongoing awareness programs.

During the event, members of the Village Defense Committees took a pledge against drug abuse, and a street play was presented to highlight the harmful effects of drug addiction. Many prominent civil and police officials, as well as community leaders, were present.
