 Youth encouraged citizens to participate in elections in Cyclothon

- Under the sweep activity, students of Government Senior Secondary School Ghantaghar took part in Cyclothon.

On the instructions of Deputy Commissioner-cum-District Election Officer Komal Mittal, a cyclothon was organized by the students of Government Senior Secondary School Ghantaghar as part of the sweep activity on the beginning of the special revision of voter lists 2024. This cyclothon was flagged off by Assistant Commissioner Divya P. In the Cyclothon, the youth encouraged the citizens to participate in the elections by riding bicycles and inspired them to be ready for the strengthening of democracy. This cyclothon started from Government Senior Secondary School Ghantaghar, passed through Phagwara Chowk, Government College Chowk, Session Chowk and ended at Government Senior Secondary School Ghantaghar.

Meanwhile, while talking to journalists, Assistant Commissioner Divya P said that the primary publication of voter lists has started from today and claims and objections will be received till December 9, 2023. She informed that in this regard, special camps will be organized on 4th November 2023, 5th November 2023, 2nd December 2023 and 3rd December 2023, during which BLOs will sit at their respective polling stations from 9 am to 5 pm . She said that the claims and objections will be settled by December 26, 2023 and the final publication of voter lists will be done on January 5, 2024.

Divya. P said that persons who have turned 18 years of age or more on January 1, 2024, can submit application in Form No. 6 to get their names included in the voter list. She said that Form No. 7 for raising objection on the name included in the voter list or for getting the vote deducted, Form No. 8 for correcting any error already recorded in the voter list, correction in address, duplicate voter card, etc. should be given to the concerned booth level officer. Apart from this, you can apply online through helpline app or voter portal.

On this occasion, District Nodal Officer of SVEEP Preet Kohli, Principal Shailendra Thakur, Election Kanungo Deepak Kumar, Harpreet Kaur besides a group of staff of Government Senior Secondary School were present.
