 Punjab Intensifies Efforts for Safe Return of Stranded Citizens from UAE: Dr. Ravjot Singh

Amid rising geopolitical tensions in the Middle East, the Punjab Government has initiated coordinated measures to ensure the safety and safe return of Punjabis stranded at various airports in the United Arab Emirates, particularly Dubai.

Punjab’s NRI Affairs Minister, Dr. Ravjot Singh, stated that the state government is in constant touch with affected individuals and closely monitoring developments in the region. He emphasized that safeguarding the lives and interests of Punjabis abroad remains the government’s foremost priority.

Dr. Ravjot revealed that he personally interacted via telephone with several tourists and expatriates from Punjab stranded at airports in Dubai and other parts of the UAE. He also spoke with Neeru Garg, Principal of SSD Girls College, Bathinda, to obtain first-hand information about the prevailing situation and the difficulties being faced by travelers.

Highlighting the proactive approach of the state administration, Dr. Singh said that under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, the Punjab Government is maintaining close coordination with the Government of India and the concerned Indian diplomatic missions to ensure timely assistance and facilitate safe evacuation if required.

In a significant step, Dr. Ravjot has written to India’s External Affairs Minister, S. Jaishankar, seeking an urgent meeting to deliberate on the emerging crisis. In his communication, he described the escalating tensions involving the United States, Israel, and Iran as deeply concerning and underscored the presence of a substantial Punjabi population in the affected region.

He urged the Union Government to formulate a coordinated action plan at the earliest to safeguard the interests of Indian nationals, particularly those from Punjab, and ensure their safe and dignified return.

Reassuring families in Punjab, Dr. Ravjot Singh affirmed that the state government stands firmly with every affected citizen and will continue to make every possible effort to secure their well-being and safe repatriation.
