MLA Jimpa Honoured for Removing Transformer from Valmiki Chowk
Cake-cutting marks birthday celebration too

The Valmiki community specially honoured MLA Brahm Shankar Jimpa today for removing the transformer from in front of Bhagwan Valmiki Chowk. During a programme at the chowk on this occasion, the Sunday Market Association also celebrated MLA Brahm Shankar Jimpa's birthday by cutting a cake. Hoshiarpur Municipal Corporation Mayor Surinder Kumar, councillors, and other dignitaries were present.
In his speech, MLA Brahm Shankar Jimpa said Bhagwan Valmiki Chowk is the city's central hub, and every possible effort is being made to enhance its beauty. He announced that Rs 5 lakh has been arranged under the Ranga Punjab scheme to beautify the chowk. Lights will be installed around the chowk to make it more attractive, he added. The transformer at the chowk was obstructing its aesthetics, which the municipal corporation got removed by paying Rs 2.93 lakh to the electricity department, he said. All demands of the Valmiki community will be fulfilled on priority, he assured, adding that their requests for a bus stand and hearse van will soon be met.
Valmiki community leaders expressed heartfelt gratitude to MLA Jimpa for prioritising the city's development and the demands of sanitation workers. A community kitchen (langar) was also organised on the occasion. Among those present were Karnjot Adia, Hari Ram Adia, Khushi Ram Dhiman, and other notables.
