Mann Government Committed to Economic Support for Widows and Homeless Women: Karamjit Kaur

District Planning Committee Chairperson Karamjit Kaur stated that under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, the Punjab Government is continuously working for the upliftment of the weaker sections of society. She said that with the objective of economically empowering widows and homeless women, the Punjab Government has announced a special assistance scheme for the financial year 2025–26.Karamjit Kaur informed that a total budget of ₹1,170 crore has been allocated under this scheme. By the month of August, around 6.66 lakh women had already been provided with financial assistance amounting to ₹593.14 crore. She further added that this initiative will not only provide financial security to women but also encourage them to lead self-reliant and dignified lives.The Chairperson emphasized that Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann’s compassionate approach and his dedication to the development of all sections of society have given Punjab a new direction. She stated that the primary goal of the government is to make widows and homeless women self-sufficient and to integrate them into the mainstream of society.Expressing heartfelt gratitude to Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann for this commendable initiative, Karamjit Kaur said that every possible step will be taken at the district level to ensure the effective implementation of the scheme so that eligible beneficiaries receive timely assistance.
