Deputy Commissioner visits Dana Mandi with Market Committee Chairman, issues directions to improve basic infrastructure

Deputy Commissioner Aashika Jain conducted a visit to Dana Mandi, Hoshiarpur today to review the existing facilities and infrastructure. She was accompanied by Market Committee Chairman Jaspal Singh Chechi. During the visit, the DC inspected cleanliness, management of agricultural waste, internal roads, and sewerage systems in the mandi.

She stated that before the start of the paddy procurement season, sanitation facilities in the mandi would be significantly improved to ensure smooth operations for both farmers and traders. The agricultural waste generated in the mandi will be managed under a special project in collaboration with the Municipal Corporation. This initiative aims to not only enhance hygiene but also take solid steps towards transforming the mandi into a model market.

DC Aashika Jain further informed that internal roads within the mandi will be repaired, and the sewerage system will be upgraded, especially to prevent waterlogging during the rainy season. Other basic infrastructure issues in the mandi will also be identified and resolved in a phased manner.

Chairman of the Market Committee, Jaspal Singh Chechi, called the DC’s visit a crucial step for the overall improvement of the mandi. He assured that the committee is fully committed to making Dana Mandi clean, well-equipped, and farmer-friendly. He added that repair of broken internal roads will begin soon, and cleaning and upgradation of the sewerage system will be prioritized.

He also emphasized improvements in drinking water, lighting, sheds, and seating arrangements to ensure better facilities for farmers. The chairman expressed confidence that with the joint efforts of the administration and the Market Committee, Dana Mandi will soon be counted among the model mandis of the state.

Prominent officials present during the visit included District Mandi Officer Gurkirpal Singh, XEN Dilpreet Singh, Market Committee Secretary Vinod Kumar, Amit, and other dignitaries.
